Pressed for time?
At my last corporate job before I started this Life Coaching biz, my title was Simplification Leader. My whole job was to make things more simple, easy, fluid. This was the perfect job for my efficient brain. Finding easier and better ways to do things just makes me happy.
The other morning I left my house at 7:40 to take the kids to school. I know from testing it that if we leave at 7:30 or 7:40, we actually arrive at the same time because traffic lightens up after 7:30. Score. I won myself 10 extra minutes at home. I dropped my kids at their schools and headed to Starbucks for a meeting. I started listening to an audio book that automatically synced to the page that I read on my Kindle when reading before bed the night before. At a stop light, I ordered my coffee by using the Starbucks app, which has my saved order as the first button. I walked into starbucks 4 minutes later and heard them say “mobile order for Michelle” the second I walked in. Ah, makes my heart sing just thinking about it.
It’s ok if you think I’m a little weird right now. I am. But, even if you don’t have a built in obsession with maximizing time and efficiency like I do, there are probably lots of easy ways to simplify your life. Here are my top 3 suggestions for doing just that:
Say No. Seriously, seriously, SERIOUSLY why do you say “yes” when you want to say no? If something isn’t important to you, why do you say yes? Just say no and simplify your calendar by putting less on it. Leave space for the things you really want. Like taking a nap.
Reduce Your Clothing Options. Keep the things that fit right now and make you feel good. That’s all. It makes getting dressed one hundred times more simple when the only items you can choose from are things you like, that also fit.
Plan Your Meals. This is a huge time and money saver. Make a plan of what you’ll be eating. Order groceries online. Maybe even prep the meals on the weekend. Imagine the time you’ll save figuring out what to make and getting the groceries (or takeout or fast food) every night! You can even have someone prep meals for you. Grabbing something quick and healthy from the fridge on a quick lunch break is such a great feeling.
Imagine how your day today would play out if you had all 3 in place. How much time would you save? How much more relaxed would you be?
