Review: Day Designer Planner

Day Designer founder Whitney English created her line of planners because “no one wants to get to the end of her life and wish she’d lived better, loved more, and worked less” - her goal is to help us do that right now!

I reviewed the spiral bound daily version, which I purchased here for $59. Target also carries this brand, but the planners are a different version, so if you like the one I've reviewed below, make sure you are purchasing the right one.

This planner was created to focus on your plans and schedule for every day of the year. But before you get to work on that, there is an assessment and pages to answer questions like:

  • What is important to you?

  • Where are you today?

  • Where will you go next and how do you get there?

Next, you lay out your ideal month and week. That sets the foundation for using their daily system to implement those goals and ideal weeks.

Planning options:

Yearly: Yes - includes a 12 month calendar over 2 pages, lists all 2019 holidays on one page, and leaves a blank page for you to add birthdays or other yearly plans.

Monthly: Yes

Weekly: No

Daily Planning: Yes - this is the main focus of this planner. There is a page for each day.

Project Tracking: No

Monthly Review: No - but it does include blank pages at the end of the month if you want to journal or make notes.

 Design:

I love the full range of designs they offer for this planner. They are all beautiful! Inside, each month has a tab which makes for easy flipping and pretty design. It also includes a hard plastic movable bookmark to put on each day.

The daily pages have plenty of white space and are broken into sections for a schedule, to do list, daily top 3, and even dinner plans and gratitude notes.

Because it has planning pages for each day, this is a hefty book! If you are a person who carries your planner everywhere, you may want to consider that it's 1.5 inches thick and weighs 2 pounds.

High Level Planning:

One feature I love about this planner is the pages that ask you to create your ideal month and ideal week. That helps you think about things at a high level, and sets a subconscious plan that can stick with you as you plan your days. It also focuses on your values and heart goals, so it's not all work and no play. The high level planning encourages you to think about your whole life, not just your to do list.

Extra Feature(s):

It comes with cute stickers that match the planner to make your pages even more fun.

Drawbacks/Cons: This planner does not have a weekly view. If you are a person who prefers to look at a more high level weekly view vs. a full day, this might be a drawback for you. For example, I normally make a weekly to do list, and work on those items as I have time. This has to do lists for each day. I suppose if you don't finish them, you move them to the next day, but this would be a change for me.

Summary:
This planner is beautiful and full of great ways to focus on what you need to accomplish, including down time. If you are a person who sits down and plans out each day, this could be your dream planner.
