Short & Sweet Book Review: Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist

My personal copy of this book may have more highlighted sentences than not! This book is truly one of my favorites. The author is so honest and vulnerable about what we’re all striving for, and how ridiculous that actually is.

Title:
Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist

 One Sentence Summary:
Leaving behind frantic for a more soulful way of living.

You Should Read This If:
You’re feeling overwhelmed, over-busy, and don’t feel like there are any other options.

Favorite Quote:
A few years ago, I found myself exhausted and isolated, my soul and body sick. I was tired of being tired, burned out on busy. And, it seemed almost everyone I talked with was in the same boat: a longing for connection, meaning, depth, but settling for busy.

I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, neighbor, writer, and I know all too well that settling feeling. But over the course of the last few years, I've learned a way to live, marked by grace, love, rest, and play. And it's changing everything.”

Most Helpful Takeaway:
Understanding that we are living in a time where busy is glorified like a badge of honor. That we are expected to be perfect at all of it. But that living a messy, present life is far more rewarding.
