Your energy is contagious 💪🏼

Last week my son had a soccer game for a new indoor team he joined. He was nervous and wanted to leave early. We did, but it was pouring rain and we got stuck in traffic. My son was panicked, even though we still had plenty of time. After a few minutes of sitting at a complete stop in traffic, I noticed that my energy was as frantic as his was. Why? Because energy is contagious.

I had “bought in” to his energy without even knowing it. Our energy is a feeling that comes from our thoughts. My thought was “crap, we are going to be late and he’s going to be so upset” when, truly, we had plenty of time. To change my energy, I simply changed my thought to “everything is fine, my brain told me that there’s a problem but there actually isn’t.” I turned the radio on and reassured my son that we had more than enough time. My energy was contagious, as he started to sing along to the song and relax.

Shifting your energy can feel like a super power. You can affect your whole family with your own mood. Spending one minute in the morning thinking a thought like “today I’m going to enjoy my family” can set the tone for the day.
