Guilt Ice Cream

Sometimes, we indulge in guilt like it’s our favorite ice cream. We can’t get enough of it. We wake up in the middle of the night and eat half a container of it. And then we get a stomach ache and can’t sleep. When we wake up in the morning, we open the freezer and sneak a few tiny bites, just to get through the day without feeling too good.

Women in particular tend to love the guilt ice cream. It’s always in our freezer. It’s a subconscious way for us to sabotage ourselves, so that every good thing in our life is tinged with a little touch of guilt. We seem to believe that fully enjoying anything is a bad idea.

We feel guilty when we say no to a friend, so we attend an event we’d rather skip, and then spend the whole time feeling guilty for not being at home.

We feel guilty for not spending enough time with our parents, and then we feel guilty when we have to leave work at 5, to have dinner with our parents.

We feel guilty leaving our kids to have a girls weekend, and then feel guilty when we’re having the time of our life and don’t miss them at all.

We have to stop. We do not need guilt ice cream! It doesn't taste good, it’s nutritional value is crap, and it costs a lot. Remove it from your freezer and press on with life in a new way.

Starting now, you are allowed to do the following with zero guilt:

  • Say no to anyone for any reason

  • Put yourself first and do what you want to do

  • Think that what you’re doing is already enough

  • Enjoy time away from your family. Heck, revel in it!

  • Do anything fun because it’s fun

Bye, guilt! It’s been real. Won’t miss ya!
