Pat Yourself on the Back - and Pass It On
“The invisible load of motherhood describes the unnoticed and uncompensated physical, mental, and emotional labor completed behind the scenes to keep our households happy, healthy, and running smoothly.”
You’ve made it through most of December. Nice job!
No doubt you’ve done much more than you do in an average month. The normal invisible workload of motherhood has probably tripled this month.
You are the one who knows your child needs a white shirt and black pants to perform in the holiday choir concert. You know that you don’t own either of those items, yet. You clear the family schedule for the concert and invite the grandparents. You make time to shop for the required outfit, and wash them and cut out the itchy tag because you are the one who knows an itchy tag will NOT fly with this child.
And that’s just one of probably 387 things like it this month.
Your holiday tip for today is to pat yourself on the back. GREAT JOB. Don’t listen to that silly brain of yours that wants to point out the one thing you missed or forgot to do, instead focus on everything you have done and will do before the calendar flips to 2023. You’re awesome.
Now, think of someone else who is doing her very best. Maybe it’s your co-worker or your child’s teacher or your best friend or your neighbor. Forward her this email or shoot her a text and tell her you see her, and that she’s doing a great job, too.
Reply back and let me know who you passed on the positive to, and I’ll enter you into this week’s drawing which is the “All is Calm” box from BoxFox. In addition, you’ll be entered for the grand prize, which is 3 coaching sessions, valued at $750. Now that’s a great way to kick off the new year!
