Summer Goals 3

Here’s our review on Adventure #3: Riding the Metrolink (subway), visiting Citygarden & The Foundry. Also, we had a photo contest and the winner won $10.

Mom Rating: 10/10
Kid Rating: 6/10 (Josie age 11), 9/10 (Oliver age 14)

Pros:

  • Taking the subway was so much fun! The kids didn’t even know that we had a public transit system. It was clean, easy, and a fun way to travel. I parked at the Grand Station and there was plenty of free parking. Tickets were $5 for the day.

  • We were all impressed with the Citygarden. It was super cool. Beautiful plants, sculptures, and fountains with shallow pools. You can climb on anything, frolic in the fountains, and swim in the pools. It was a really fun place for our photo contest, too.

  • The Foundry Food Hall is made up of 16 kitchens that serve all kinds of food from creole to cheesecake. The feel of the whole place is just COOL, because they’ve kept many of the original things from the foundry on the walls and ceilings. Definitely check it out. It’s a fun family place because everyone can get food at different places if you want! It’s like a gourmet mall food court. Josie gave the cheesecake from Patty’s Cheesecakes a 10/10 and she’s quite the sweets expert.

Cons: This is becoming a trend on the cons. It was hot. Like 99 degrees. Wading in the fountains helped!

Tips:

  • If you travel via metrolink, download the Transit app. You can plan your trip and buy your tickets.

  • If you’re going to Citygarden and planning to wade, bring towels.

Our photo contest entries . . .

1 “Angel in the Tree”

2 “Imperfect is Perfect”

3 “The Value of Money”

The big winner based on our facebook votes was #1 which was Oliver!

Josie took #2 and I took #3.

This was a SUPER fun activity and helped us to have a creative eye in everything we saw that day.
