B-Minus Work Saves Lives

If You're a Person Who Enjoys Doing A+ Work...

(🙋🏻‍♀️ me! )

…the idea of doing anything less than your best might feel, well, awful.

I get it. You take pride in what you do. You care.

But here’s the truth: You only get 24 hours in a day. At least 8 of those need to be spent sleeping. Add in meals, driving people around, a meeting or two (or six)… and suddenly, “doing it perfectly” isn’t just stressful—it’s impossible.

That’s where B-minus work comes in. And no, it’s not lazy. It’s strategic. It’s protective. It’s what allows you to show up without burning out.

Here are a few examples where I’ve traded in my imaginary gold star for actual sanity:

🍽️ Making Dinner

• A+ version: Cook a new recipe from scratch with fresh herbs, perfectly roasted veggies, garnishes, and a curated playlist.
• B- version: Rotisserie chicken (cooked and delivered from the grocery store), rice, slice up some apples or some veggies, and call it good. We’re fed. We’re happy. We’re done.

📱 Posting on Instagram

• A+ version: Spend an hour recording the video, rewriting the caption, picking a trending audio, and rewatching it six times to make sure I don’t sound weird.
• B- version: Record a quick video, write from the heart, and hit post before I second-guess it.

🗨️ Reaching Out to a Friend

• A+ version: Wait for the perfect time to write a thoughtful, well-worded message.
• B- version: Send a quick “Thinking about you, love you” text right now.

📚 Helping My Kids With Homework

• A+ version: Sit beside them for hours, explain every answer, ensure it's perfect.
• B- version: Check in, offer support for 15 minutes, let them take the lead—even if it's messy.

Is B-minus work always the goal? Of course not. But when it helps you move forward instead of staying stuck—it’s everything.

This week, let something be “good enough.”

Your future self (and your current nervous system) will thank you.

LOVING LATELY

Did you spend your youth “laying out” to get tan like I did? And now you’re just trying to make up for lost time? (Sorry, skin!).

I’ve been using this Colorescience Face Shield Glow SPF 50 every morning and I’m fully obsessed. It’s lightweight, gives my skin a little glow, doesn’t smell weird, and somehow makes me feel put together without having to wear makeup. And the SPF 50? She’s working overtime to undo bad 80s and 90s choices. ☀️

LET THIS GO

If someone wants to be upset, annoyed, disappointed… let them. You don’t have to fix it. You can stay in my own lane and protect your peace. If that resonates, go listen to Episode 125: How the Let Them Theory Will Finally Set You Free from People Pleasing & Overwhelm. It’s the most popular episode this month—and for good reason. This mindset shift is simple, powerful, and truly freeing.
