How a Mantra Saved Me From the (Literal!) Storm

We had some pretty major storms in St. Louis on Friday night - 6 tornadoes, hail, crazy wind and rain. When we emerged from our basement hiding place after getting the "all clear" we realized that a massive tree had fallen within inches of our house.

I clicked on my phone to take a photo and the first thing I saw was the mantra saved on my home screen: "everything is always working out for me". I immediately felt calm with that reminder. Everything WAS working out for me. My family was safe, my house was somehow untouched, and everything was truly fine.

Seeing this mantra was exactly what I needed to get myself back on track, and to realize how lucky we are and how I could absolutely manage to find someone to cut up and remove said tree.

While I hope that you don't have a fallen tree anytime soon, I recommend that you try using a mantra and see how it changes your week! I created a (free) set of digital mantra cards. View and download them here.

Here's what I recommend you do each day:

📌 Pick a mantra that speaks to you - there are 10 to choose from.
📌 Write it down, say it out loud, and/or save it as your phone wallpaper.
📌 Look at it throughout the day to keep your mindset in tip-top shape.

💡Try it right now! 👉 Download the mantras, pick your favorite, take a deep breath, and say it out loud. Notice how it shifts your energy—even just a little.

What mantra will you choose for this week?

MOOD SHIFTER

Overwhelm = Thoughts, Not Tasks

Think about two people with the exact same workload:

• Person A feels calm and focused, tackling tasks one at a time.
• Person B feels stressed, flustered, and unsure of where to start.

What’s the difference? Their thoughts about the workload.

🔴 Overwhelmed Thought: “I’ll never get all of this done.” → Creates panic and avoidance.
🟢 Empowered Thought: “I’ll take this one step at a time.” → Creates focus and momentum.

Your brain tricks you into thinking you need more time or more energy to get everything done. But what you really need is a shift in mindset.

How to Reframe Overwhelming Thoughts

Next time you feel like you’re drowning in responsibilities, try this:

1️⃣ Pause & Identify the Thought
- What is my brain telling me right now?
- Is this thought helpful or harmful

2️⃣ Challenge the Thought
- Is this really true?
- What would I tell a friend who felt this way?

3️⃣ Replace It with a Grounding Thought
- Instead of “I have too much to do,” try “I will focus on one thing at a time.”
- Instead of “I’m behind,” try “I’m making progress, and that counts.”

Give it a try this week!

LOVING LATELY

Snoop Dogg’s Kid Affirmations 🎶

Remember the Snoop Dogg of the 90s/early 2000s? The Gin and Juice and Drop It Like It's Hot Snoop Dogg? Turns out, he grew up too. He now has affirmation songs for kids! (Check one out here!) I LOVE them and it makes me so happy. Even though my kids are way too old and “cool” for such silliness, they can’t help but laugh and smile when they hear them playing on our Alexa.

Because honestly, who doesn’t need a little Snoop-inspired self-love in their day?
