You Are Enough. Period.
“People will do anything, no matter how absurd, to avoid facing their own souls.” -Carl Jung
Inside all of us, there is a quiet voice, a fleeting thought, that we tend to avoid. Facing our own inner self, our “soul” in the quote above, seems scary.
As humans, we have come up with many ways to avoid facing our own souls. Sometimes we drink too much, over eat, overschedule our life (my personal fave), or buy things we don’t need. We also attempt to control others in an effort to avoid facing ourselves.
I share this not to criticize but to say - you are not alone. Whatever it is that YOU do to avoid your own soul, you aren’t the only one. You are in the good company of just about every other human being on the planet.
What I’ve learned from my own journey, and from coaching many others, is that the thoughts we are trying to aren’t nearly as scary as we imagine.
Imagine me in my former life: over scheduled, controlling (or attempting to control) my husband and kids, all while shopping online to make myself feel better. I was avoiding the thought, without realizing it at the time, that I was not enough. My true self was not enough. I was convinced that I had to be perfect in order for people to like and respect me.
It turns out that I am enough. Already. As is. Always have been. And so are you.
If you are going to great lengths to avoid looking at your soul, reach out to me. We can work together and dig out what’s causing you pain. It won’t be scary. I’ll walk you through it and you’ll see that you too are enough. And always have been.
