Review: 2020 Emily Ley Simplified Daily Planner

I chose this Simplified Daily Planner because I simply love Emily Ley. I love her design aesthetic and the way she makes everything more clean and simple. I love her books, her Instagram feed, her cute hair.

I reviewed the simplified daily planner which was $58.

  1. Solid Start: Before the calendar even begins, this planner starts with a four page exercise to set yourself up for the new year. It encourages you to think about and write down new healthy habits and document new routines for morning and evening. It encourages you to create a bucket list for the year, and provides a “simplicity challenge” to help you make your life more simple from top to bottom.

  2. Design: You know I’m a sucker for fun colors, so the design of all of her products make me happy! They are fun and colorful, yet clean with plenty of white space. The months are separated by rainbow colored tabs. I had a hard time choosing which cover to get because they are all so cute.

3. Daily Details: The daily view is a page per day, leaving plenty of space for writing in appointments, to do list, and other notes (except the weekends, Saturday and Sunday are shared on one page). Sunday has a good checklist built in for how to prep for the week, too.

Design: I think the most unique part of this planner is the design. It has a clean and open feel, but it’s also cute and fun. It includes stickers and a folder pocket for keeping documents.

Weekly View - This planner doesn’t include a weekly view. It goes from the full month to the daily breakdown. I am very used to working off of a weekly view, so I think it could be annoying to flip back and forth by day. However, if you are a planner who loves to put tons of detail on each day, this may not be an issue for you.

If you like the concept but would prefer an online or app-based version, check out the Artful Agenda review.

If you really need a weekly view of your schedule, then the Passion Planner may be for you.

If you this is way too detailed and you want to focus more on goals than a daily to do list, check out the Powersheets Goal Planner.
