Last weekend I was totally inspired and excited by a workshop I attended in Chicago. It was put on by Susan Hyatt, a Life Coach, women's empowerment advocate, love-your-body guru, and all around inspiring-bad-ass-kinda-gal. As my friend Leigha and I were dropped at Navy Pier by our uber driver, we searched for our first event, which was dinner on a private yacht. After we walked about 150 miles (well it felt like that, in the too high heels I chose to wear!) we found the yacht, and were greeted by a gospel choir as the welcome committee. Beyond the choir, we were greeted by Susan herself in a sparkly sequin jumpsuit that she called "what it would look like if Cher and Beyoncé had a baby." Susan is the kind of person you'd call "all in" - she is so fully herself. She knows why she does what she does and she pursues it every single day.

One of the main questions throughout the weekend is "what's your why?" Why do you own your own business? Why do you teach school? Why do you stay home with your kids? Why do you (insert your life here)?

Think about that for a minute. If you understand your "why" you understand your motivation. Once you understand your "why" you have all the motivation you need to pursue your life's calling. In a room full of business owners, some of the "whys" listed were:
- Helping people find their creative voice
- Financial freedom/money
- Working from home
- Flexible schedule
- Offering alternatives to traditional medicine

The list went on and on. And it doesn't even matter what the why is, it doesn't have to be a certain thing. It just has to be YOUR thing. Don't settle for a life that doesn't meet your why!

Here's mine:

I want to encourage women, especially Moms, to live a peaceful and calm life that they truly love. I want to create a community of women who support each other, no matter their life choices. I believe that if you positively influence a mom's life, it has a ripple effect because she will in turn influence her kids, spouse, co-workers, and friends. Moms are the most powerful people on the planet, and if we are living our best lives, we send out a ripple effect of calm optimism to everyone we touch.

There is no one more powerful than a mom on a mission, am I right people?
