May Madness Part 2
In the carpool pick up line last week, a teacher commented to me “You look so relaxed today! What have you been up to?”
It had been a busy day. I had seen 5 clients and worked on planning a family party for my son’s 8th grade graduation.
But I was, indeed, feeling relaxed.
At the start of May, I posted this article about how to manage all of the craziness that happens at the end of school. In my case, I had 18 extra things to do.
I practice what I preach. I did everything that I wrote about. I was relaxed the day before my son’s 8th graduation because:
☀️I scheduled everything for the month at the beginning of May. I was able to do that because I didn’t say “yes” to 99 things. I carefully said yes to what I really wanted to do and made sure I penciled in time to do it.
☀️I simplified everywhere I could. I asked for help with school pick ups when I found out my babysitter couldn’t work the last two weeks of school. I cooked dinner 2 nights a week at most.
☀️I took great care of myself. I got good sleep almost every night. I made it to my 6:30 workout 4 days a week. I meal prepped my lunches on Sundays so I could have healthy lunches between seeing clients. I meditated every afternoon.
☀️And, maybe most importantly, I decided I was going to enjoy May and all of the things happening. I did not think “this month is so crazy and I can’t wait until it’s over” - instead I thought “this month is special and even though it’s busy I’m going to relax and enjoy it."
This stuff works. If you want to feel relaxed, no matter what is happening, I can help. In my 1 on 1 coaching program, I teach you every skill you need to stop feeling overwhelmed. The first step is to set up a free discovery session with me, which you can do here.
